Photography is a fantastic source to reflect a realistic
copy of our world at that time the photo has been taken. Its value is often
underestimated and is recognized months and years later after it's done,
since everything is in continuous change. Someone even realizes these
changes while watching a picture e.g. the
development of a city, a change of the native nature or the individual
aging.
Taking pictures was never so easy and cheap than nowadays. High
digital resolution and realistic colour expression of modern optical chips
have almost replaced the classical analogous photography since this "old school
photography" seemed to be too expensive and time inefficient. The
inflationary development of digital cameras with multiple zoom factors,
macro- and wideangle-functions, also in mobile phones, are even in contest with
single lens reflex cameras (SLR). Obviously almost everybody may afford a
digital camera and may be able to take
pictures without any photographic-technical knowledge. The camera adopt all important
camera settings in the automatic image mode and the user is able to produce
thousands of pictures in a short while. The taken picture is visible on the
cameras' display directly after the camera is triggered. The user is able
to decide to keep or to erase the taken picture or to repeat the exposure
until the photographer is satisfied with his results.
The digital photography has enabled another important possibility to
improve the picture results for everyone without an expensive photo
laboratory. The taken digital picture can be easily
reprocessed or manipulated with an image editing software on the PC. It is very simple
e.g. to select a specific picture detail, to change the brightness and the
colour depth of a taken picture. Details of several pictures can be easily
combined in one unique picture. Thus, the digital photography offers a huge
field of creativity, implies, however, passion, patience and knowledge how
to create an impressive picture result.
Creativity is the point why someone begins to become an active photographer.
Everyone starts with a cheap camera and with an interest to take pictures
which may e.g. reflect the individual view of something. It is subjectively
thought "worth" to be kept on a taken picture. Maybe it is valuable to print
the picture for decorative purpose, e.g. attaching it on the wall. With
increasing experience, however, a beginner recognizes his limits. The
technical limits are relatively manageable which means that the user has to
invest money to afford a new camera e.g. with more manual setups or the user
needs another optical lens to widen his photographic possibilities. The
personal limits are a kind of a huge challenge. Everyone who has already
taken part at a photo competition knows that there is a huge amount of
concurrents out there who take pictures several times better than you.
Photography is not as easy as many believe. Picture composition is the non
plus ultra to obtain an impressive photo result for the observer. A kind of
study is necessary to learn how to compose a picture. The willingness to
possess photographic knowledge and to experimentalize will forward your
picture qualities considerably.
Photographic knowledge is the basement for another level of photography. A
picture is created in the mind of a photographer which can be seen on the
taken picture later. The picture result does not imply realism necessarily.
It might reflect the constitution of the photographer which means that
photography arise from simple realm reflection into photo art. The picture
may but does not necessarily affect the emotional constitution of the
observer.
Photography is therefore a
field of evolving individual creativity to express yourself. I am a
biologist, I love nature and I am fascinated by the countries far up in the
North which still possess wide areas of wilderness. Landscapes, animals and
flowers are my favourites. I have ordered my pictures in different
categories on the left side. Maybe you like some of them. Enjoy!
